Bolstering its Cannes slate, Scandinavian sales outfit TrustNordisk has picked up The Candidate. The film is produced by Miso Film.
Kasper Barfoed (The Lost Treasure of the Knights Templar) directs. The cast is led by Scandinavian star Nicolai Lee Kaas (Open Hearts), Lee Kaas, Kim Bodnia, David Dencik and Swedish actor Tuva Novotny.
The film is about a defence attorney accused of murder. Taking matters into his own hands, he throws himself into the hunt for a group of blackmailers who threaten to expose him as the killer.
'The Candidate is the kind of film that emphasizes the TrustNordisk strategy. We are not only going to focus on pure art house, we also want to represent the more commercial quality films as well,' commented Trust's Rikke Ennis.
