UK exhibitor Cineworld Group has signed a deal with Real D for 3D projection.

Real D systems will initially be installed in 30 of Cineworld's 72 digital screns. The roll-out will coincide with the release of 3D project Beowulf in Nov 16.

After that, Cineworld will work with the studios to discuss terms of digital deployment, and will likely add more Real D systems.

Steve Wiener, CEO of Cineworld, said: 'This is a significant deal for Cineworld and one which will revolutionise the cinema experience for our moviegoers across the country. We could see as many as 100 Real D screens once our digital platform is in place.'
