New Wave is likely to seek to launch the film (sold by The Match Factory) at the London Film Festival in October before releasing it in the UK in late 2010 or 2011.

UK art house distributor New Wave Films has snapped up British rights to Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Palme d’Or winner, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. New Wave is likely to seek to launch the film (sold by The Match Factory) at the London Film Festival in October before releasing it in the UK in late 2010 or 2011.

Uncle Boonmee spearheads what has been a busy Cannes market for New Wave. Other acquisitions include Jean-Luc Godard’s Film Socialism (sold by Wild Bunch), Italian director Michelangelo Frammartino’s Quattro Volte (sold by The Coproduction Office) and Cristi Puiu’s Aurora (also sold by the Coproduction Office.)

“They are all films that we like a lot. They will either provoke debate (as in the case of Godard and Aurora) or will intrigue people like Quattro Volte and Boonmee,” New Wave’s Robert Beeson said of the company’s Cannes hoard.
