Rainmaker's Paul Goldin and Georgina Townsley are producing.
The documentary is about a South African tycoon who helped rescue children orphaned during the brutal aftermath of the Russian Revolution and took them to Cape Town. Filming starts in South Africa in March and will continue in Eastern Europe in May. The budget is about $587,500 (£300,000), raised mostly through private equity and funds.
Rainmaker plans several versions of Ochberg's Orphans, including one 50-minute version for broadcast, a 39-minute short for Oscar consideration and festivals, and potentially a longer theatrical version.
Delivery is expected in September 2007.
