South Korea’s United Pictures and M-Line Distribution have pre-sold $12m action fantasy Woochi to Splendid for Germany and Benelux and Viscom Suraya for Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
The film has also sold to China’s New View TV & Media.
Directed by Choi Dong-hoon, whose credits include 2006 smash hit Tazza: The High Rollers, the film tells the story of a mischievous wizard who travels through time to contemporary Seoul to fight against goblins.
The cast is headed by Gang Dong-won (Duelist), Kim Yoon-suk (The Chaser) and Lim Soo-jung (I’m A Cyborg, But That’s OK). Release in Korea is scheduled for the Christmas holiday period.
M-Line is handling European territories on the film while United Pictures handles the US and Asia. The film is produced by Zip Cinema, which founded sales agent United Pictures along with production outfits BK Pictures and Opus Pictures.
Founded last year by former Show East executive Michelle Son, M-Line is also selling Park Jin-pyo’s melodrama Closer To Heaven and Yun Jae-yeon’s horror film Yoga at the AFM.
