Universal Pictures and Virgin Media have announced that on-demand film service PictureBox will launch on Virgin’s TV platform in July.
It will offer subscribers a selection of 28 films at any time, with seven new titles added each week, for £5 per month. A majority of films will be available in high definition, which is the first time PictureBox will be offered in HD in the UK.
The library will include titles such as Hot Fuzz, The Bourne Ultimatum and The Holiday, as well as classic titles such as Scarface and Total Recall.
Belinda Menedez, president of NBC Universal International TV Distribution, said: “The agreement is a significant step in the growth of the PictureBox brand, which will now be available to Virgin’s 3.6m TV customers in the UK.”
The service is already available in the UK on a number of platforms including on-demand service BT Vision and free-to-air digital service, Freeview.
