Singapore's Upside Down Entertainment (UDE) has sealed an $11m co-financing and co-production deal with China's Hanwen Animation Co (HAC), it was announced here today.
The slate includes 3D animated feature Last Days and live-action TV series Colourful Fish. Both are English-language projects aimed at international markets.
Most of the production will take place at HAC's Suzhou studios. HAC - a fast-growing independent animation company headed by CEO Dawll Du - expects to open its first overseas branch in Hong Kong in mid-2008.
UDE, a partnership between Singapore's Upside Down Media and Mark Byers's Quixotic Media, aims to bring Western finance models to Asia.
Last November, it sealed a $10m deal with US film finance company Cinema Solutions Inc (CSI). Two projects, Accidental Love and Sky Pirate, are currently in pre-production for a September shoot in Singapore.
