Variance Films has acquired US theatrical rights to The Trouble With Bliss starring comedy Michael C Hall, Brie Larson, Peter Fonda and Lucy Liu.
Michael Knowles’ film was formerly titled East Fifth Blues. It is adapted from Douglas Light’s novel of that name.
Producers are John Ramos and John Will.
Hall stars as a 35-year-old New Yorker whose life is shaken up.
The film will be releaesed March 23, 2012, simultaneously with the VOD release via M!ght Entertainment.
“The Trouble With Bliss absolutely charmed me,” said Variance head Dylan Marchetti. “The characters aren’t phony, the lessons learned aren’t clichéd, and any chance to see a cast like this work together is worth it in my book. I think this film is going to delight a lot of people come March 23.”
“After opening the Newport Beach Film Festival to an enthusiastic sold-out crowd of over 1,100, we knew The Trouble With Bliss needed to be seen by audiences in a theater,” added writer/director Michael Knowles. “We’re very excited to be working with Dylan and Variance. Variance’s reputation of hard work and creative marketing is exactly what we are looking for.”
Variance’s slate also includes a March 2 release for Let The Bullets Fly.
