Vertical Entertainment announced at AFM it has acquired North American rights to the military thriller Boys Of Abu Ghraib. Electric Entertainment handles international sales.

Luke Moran wrote, directed and stars alongside Sean Astin, Sara Paxton and John Heard in the story of a forbidden friendship between a US soldier and an Iraqi detainee.

Vertical has set a March 2014 theatrical release. Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz are presenting the film and serve as executive producers with Rogan Donelly.

Vertical’s Peter Jarowey negotiated the deal with Resolution on behalf of the filmmakers and Electric head of international distribution Sonia Mehandjiyska.
