Alex Graham, CEO of BAFTA winning production company Wall to Wall, has been appointed the new Chair of the Media Literacy Task Force.
The group was set-up by the UK Film Council, Channel 4, the BBC and the BFI to empower the public to be media literate and participate in today's convergent digital world. It has been spearheaded by Heather Rabbatts CBE since it was established in 2004.
Commenting on his appointment Alex Graham said 'I think Media Literacy is one of the key political issues in today's converged world. The common misunderstanding is that this is merely an education issue concerning only young people. In fact it affects all of us not just as consumers but as users and potential producers too.
'Media is now embedded in our daily lives in ways which were unthinkable just a few decades ago. I see the Media Literacy Task Force as playing a key role in grappling with the changing world of content creation, delivery and consumption.'
Graham recently stood down as the Chair of PACT and currently sits on the board of the Sheffield Documentary Festival. He will take up the position of leading the Media Literacy Task Force immediately.
