Ben Stiller’s drama The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty will get its world premiere on Oct 5 as the Centrepiece Gala at the 51st New York Film Festival.

Stiller stars alongside Kristen Wiig in Fox’s awards season hopeful, an adaptation of James Thurber’s 1930’s story about a fabulist who embarks upon a real adventure when his job is threatened.

Shirley MacLaine, Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, Patton Oswalt and Sean Penn also star. Fox will release Walter Mitty on Dec 25.

The festival is scheduled to run from Sept 27-Oct 13.
