Wardrop's His and Hers wins Irish Directors Finders award     

The award will see Wardrop’s documentary showcased at the Directors Guild of America Theatre in LA in August. It will be shown to US distributors, filmmakers and key industry figures in a bid to secure a North American distribution deal.

Commenting on his selection, Wardrop said: “It is an overwhelming honour for me to be presented with this incredible opportunity. I’m incredibly grateful to the panel of judges for giving my film such a stamp of approval, and I’m so excited about presenting the film at the DGA theatre on Sunset Boulevard.”

His and Hers explores the relationship between men and women through the lives of 70 female characters. Shot in hallways, living rooms and kitchens in the Irish Midlands, the story moves sequentially from young to old to give a unique and touching insight into sharing life’s journey.

Wardrop is acknowledged as one of Ireland’s freshest creative talents. He has directed several original short documentaries, which have received international attention for their aesthetic values and their humanity. His films have received over thirty international awards including a European Film Academy Award for his short film, Undressing My Mother in 2005.  His and Hers is his debut feature film.

The Directors Finders Series was conceived by the DGA and facilitated by the SDGI. It aims to give Irish film-makers that have not secured US distribution deals access to key distributors and decision makers in the territory.
