The UK based sales agent is launching the collection at the EFM. The package includes The Flower Girl (1972) described as a North Korean Gone With the Wind, the two part The Tale Of Chun Hyang (1980) and Bellflower (1987).
Completing the package is A Schoolgirl's Diary (2006), the first North Korean film to receive a theatrical release in the west, via Pretty Pictures in France in 2007. The film recorded 8 million admissions at the North Korean box office.
The agreement was made between James Velaise for Pretty Pictures and John Flahive for Wavelength Pictures. Velaise negotiated worldwide distribution rights from the North Korean state agency Korfilm following his 2006 and 2008 visits to the Pyongyang International Film Festival.
' This is a unique - and possibly once in a lifetime - opportunity for distributors and festivals worldwide to show these ever so rare movies' said Velaise.
