Wellspring has appointed RobWilliams as manager of acquisitions. Williams arrives from Dreamworks'New York office and will report to the newly appointed head of acquisitions,Marie Therese Guirgis; his responsibilities include acquiring films and programmingfor Wellspring's theatrical, home video and worldwide sales businessunits.
'Rob's experience inboth studio and arthouse film distribution will serve us well. His passion forworld cinema and his marketing know-how are going to be tremendous assets to usgoing forward,' Guirgis said in a statement.
Williams worked intheatrical marketing at DreamWorks from 2000-03, where he worked on thereleases of films such as Shrek, Gladiator, Road To Perdition and Catch Me If You Can, among others.
Prior to Dreamworks heworked at independent distributor Stratosphere Entertainment from 1998 asdistribution and advertising coordinator.
In his time at Stratospherehe released such pictures as Pavel Chukhraj's Oscar nominated TheThief, Hideous Kinky starring Kate Winslet, and School of Flesh by Benoit Jacquot.
