EXCLUSIVE: Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Kruger and Emile Hirsch to star in 1940s drama due to shoot this summer.
Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Kruger [pictured] and Emile Hirsch are set to star in 1940s atomic bomb drama Midnight Sun, which London-based sales outfit WestEnd Film has snapped up pre-EFM. The Film Sales Company handles US.
Actor-director Chris Eigeman (Turn the River) has written the script and will direct with Captivate Entertainment’s Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner (The Bourne Legacy) producing with Eric Morris.
Set in 1943, the drama follows two young post graduates recruited by the US Government to work on a top-secret project in New Mexico. Along with one of the students’ new wife, they drop their jazz-filled lives in New York and move to a secret community of scientists in the desert.
Andrew Herwitz and Julianne Hausler executive produce, while Richard Rhodes, winner of the Pulitzer prize for book The Making of the Atomic Bomb, is an advisor on the project.
Principal photography is scheduled to get underway in summer 2013.
