Proving that the Scots really do know how to party, the whisky was flowing, the bagpipes were blaring, the haggis was hearty and the men in kilts dashing at the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s annual ceilidh last night.
It also provided a rare opportunity to see lots of serious film industry types looking really rather silly as they tried to master the extremely lively Scottish dance on one too many whisky mojitos (and that was just me).
The festival certainly seemed to be living up to its relaxed and friendly reputation last night and there was also lots of praise from industry members for the whole operation, which seems to have found its feet again, after the near-disaster of two years ago.
As EIFF artistic director Chris Fujiwara joked when he took to the stage during the evening, the EIFF is definitely “the greatest film festival in… Edinburgh.”
