The American Society Of Cinematographers (ASC) has announced its five feature nominees ahead of the 24th annual awards ceremony on February 27.
Barry Ackroyd is nominated for The Hurt Locker, alongside Dion Beebe for Nine, Christian Berger for The White Ribbon (pictured), Mauro Fiore for Avatar, and Robert Richardson for Inglorious Basterds.
“It is a daunting challenge for our members to narrow a very competitive field down to five films that represent the most artful cinematography we have seen during the past year,” ASC president Michael Goi said.
“We believe these very different films have set the contemporary standard for compelling visual storytelling.”
This is Beebe’s third nomination. He previously won the ASC Award for Memoirs Of A Geisha in 2006 and was nominated for Collateral. This is the ninth nomination for Richardson.
