Wild Bunch has sold Julio Medem’s $4.5m romantic drama Room In Rome to several territories across Europe, Asia and Latin America.
The film, currently in post-production, has sold to Frenetic Films for Switzerland, Maywin Media (CIS and the Baltics), Spentzos Films (Greece), Myndform (Iceland) and Independenta Film (Romania).
In Latin America, it has gone to Cinemas Nueva Era for Mexico, Tag Cultural Distribuidora (Brazil) and Babilla Cine (Colombia). In Asia, Velavan Films has taken rights for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Shaw Renters Organisation will distribute in Brunei and Singapore, Swallow Films has taken right rights for Taiwan and M Picture will handle it in Thailand.
Wild Bunch has already sealed deals on the film with IFC for the US, Optimum (UK), Transmission (Australia), Comstock (Japan) and First Distributor (Hong kong). As yet, no distributor has taken rights for Spain.
Room In Rome is produced by Medem’s outfit Alicia Produce, alongside Morena Films, and tells the story of a passionate, romantic encounter between two women, played Elena Anaya and Natasha Yarovenko.
