Andrea Willson has been recruited by Universal Pictures to head its new Berlin-based local production arm to invest in the development and production of German language feature films.
Willson had previously been the head of Sony Pictures Entertainment's German production arm Deutsche Columbia Pictures Filmproduktion, where she was involved in such films as Stefan Ruzowitzky's two Anatomy thrillers and the Til Schweiger-starrer Was Tun, Wenn's Brennt until the unit was closed down in 2003.
In early 2004, she was brought onboard by the Swiss rights trader/distributor Falcom Media Group to manage the company's expansion into German language production as a 'second strategic business unit' alongside the core business of rights trading.
