Olivier Wotling has been named cinema director of France's national film organisation, the CNC.
Wotling replaces outgoing cinema director Francois Hurard who has left to join the cabinet of newly-appointed culture minister, Christine Albanel.
Hurard will act as spokesman for the government under the heading of Film Counsellor.
Wotling began as audiovisual advisor at the French Embassy in Sofia in 1992 before heading to Budapest from 1993-1996 and Rome from 1996-1999.
He was named counsellor of European affairs in the European and International Affairs department of the CNC in 1999 and since 2006 has been deputy cinema director.
