Hong Kong director Herman Yau has started shooting his first 3D production, suspense horror The Second Coming, as a Hong Kong-Singapore-Taiwan co-production.
Australian writer Ng Tin Chi, who also wrote the screenplay, is co-directing the film. The cast is headed by Hong Kong actors Maggie Siu, Kenny Wong and Don Li with up-and-coming Malaysian actress Joey Leong (Blood Ties).
Leong plays a teenage daughter who starts to experience hauntings, forcing her family to confront their past and the unveiling of some uncomfortable truths.
Yau and Ng are working with Singapore’s Widescreen Media for the stereoscopic 3D on the film. Widescreen previously worked on successful 3D films such as Bait 3D, Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate and upcoming Korea-China co-production Mr Go 3D.
The film is produced by Hong Kong’s Imagine Nation Films and Singapore’s Scout Pictures, with support from the Hong Kong Film Development Fund (HKFDC) and Singapore’s Media Development Authority (MDA).
Ng and Flora Goh are producing. Executive producers are Anita Hatta, Leow Siak Fah, Raymond Ng, George Andrew Philips, Kevin Lau and Lee Lieh, producer of hit Taiwanese films Orz Boyz and Monga.
Scheduled for release from mid-2013, the film will be distributed in Singapore and Malaysia by V Media Enterprises. Other distribution partners will be announced soon. The project was selected for the Taipei Golden Horse Film Project Promotion event in November last year.
