Denmark's prolific production outfit, Zentropa, has plans to expand their activities in TV series and drama both domestically and internationally.
To head their new department they have hired the experienced Bo Mortensen from national broadcaster TV2, who's credits include the long running Hotellet (The Hotel) and the upcoming The Defence (Forsvar).
'Zentropa is already collaborating with a number of creative talents in Denmark, and with the experience from their international co-productions, they are geared for big and complicated projects,' says Mortensen. 'FilmByen is also ideal for the production of TV series with plenty of room for buildings and facilities.'
Zentropa has previously been involved in series' like Lars von Trier's The Kingdom I+II in collaboration with broadcaster DR as well as Morten Korch with TV 2. 'The synergy between TV series and film with writers, directors, film workers and not least actors is one of the keys to success both on screen and TV,' he says. Though a script for third installment of Tier's Kingdom series do exist, it is unlikely that will be among the new projects from Zentropa Drama.
