Summit Entertainment has ended speculation over the format of the final instalment in its Twilight series and confirmed that Breaking Dawn will be released as two separate parts.

The first will open on November 18, 2011. Both films are being directed by Bill Condon and production is scheduled to begin in autumn.

Melissa Rosenberg is currently adapting the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer’s series. Meyer, Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt are producing.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is due to open on June 30.
