Amazon has begun the hunt for the successor to EU content chief Georgia Brown.
The SVoD giant is seeking a head of EU Originals, content strategy and analysis, to help build on a slate which includes Good Omens, The Grand Tour, Clarkson’s Farm and All Or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur as well as forthcoming drama The Power and an array of live sports.
Reporting to Amazon Studios vice president of international James Farrell, the London-based position has overall responsibility for commissioning, as well as content business reviews and long-term strategy.
They will take charge of a team which includes UK head of originals Dan Grabiner, unscripted execs Fozia Khan, Harjeet Chhokar and scripted execs Jonathan Lewsley and Daisy Mount.
In the advert, Amazon stated: “It is our role to produce original content and license studio programs worldwide in exclusive service of Amazon’s Prime Video customers. We need your passion, innovative ideas, and creativity to help take us to new heights”
According to Ofcom’s Media Nation report, some 46% of UK households subscribe to Amazon’s Prime Video service, down by around 590,000 year-on-year.
Brown’s departure emerged at the end of August, in the wake of the Edinburgh TV Festival.
She was head of EU Originals for five years, having joined from Fremantle Media International in 2017.
In a note to staff Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke and Farrell said: “Georgia has grown the team from a single person to now a fantastic organization poised for continued growth in seven different country offices spread across the continent.”
