STXinternational has dropped a Gerard Butler action thriller into the market and will launch EFM sales on Remote Control for Hyde Park Entertainment Group, James Bond producers Eon Productions, and G-BASE.
The project marks the third project between STXfilms and Butler after Den Of Thieves and the upcoming Greenland.
In Remote Control, Butler will play a former war correspondent turned corporate security consultant who enlists the support of a former lover after he is accused of being an assassin and must outrun a shadowy organisation and the CIA.
John Mathieson, who served as cinematographer on Gladiator and Logan, will direct the project from a screenplay Mark Burnell adapted from his own thriller novel.
Hyde Park chairman and CEO Ashok Amritraj will produce through Hyde Park Entertainment Group alongside Butler and Alan Siegel through their G-BASE Entertainment banner. Executive producers are Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for EON Productions, Priya Amritraj and Addison Mehr for Hyde Park, and Danielle Robinson for G-BASE.
Butler’s recently starred in Angel Has Fallen, the third entry in the Fallen action thriller franchise that has grossed more than $500m worldwide. Upcoming credits include aforementioned Greenland, and a second Den Of Thieves instalment.
