The National Board of Review on Tuesday (3) named The Irishman film of the year, while Renée Zellweger of Judy and Adam Sandler of Uncut Gems have claimed the top acting prizes and Quentin Tarantino was named director of the year for Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood.
Bong Joon ho’s Parasite was named best foreign language film, Maiden best documentary, and How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World best animation.
Martin Scorsese and his The Irishman stars Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino will receive the NBR Icon Award in another strong night for Netflix after Marriage Story dominated the Gotham Awards on Monday. The Irishman also earned honours for Steven Zaillian’s adapted screenplay. The Safdie brothers won best original screenplay for Uncut Gems.
The cast of Knives Out was named best ensemble, Paul Walter Hauser breakthrough performer for Richard Jewell, and Roger Deakins for his cinematography on 1917.
Honourees will collect their awards at the NBR Awards Gala ceremony in New York on January 8, 2020.
