Paris-based sales outfit Wild Bunch International has officially changed its name to Goodfellas.
After announcing a moniker modification during Unifrance’s Paris Rendez-Vous in January at a party, the company remained mum on the new name pending legal confirmation.
“The international sales company will now be called Goodfellas. There are no other changes to the structure created in 2019,” the company said in a short statement on Wednesday (March 29), adding that: “While Goodfellas is now owned and operated separately from the Wild Bunch Group, the companies will continue to work together through a new co-financing agreement that includes the development and production of, and participation in, select new projects.”
The name is a nod to Martin Scorsese’s legendary 1990 American crime film starring Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci, widely considered one of the best gangster films ever made. Scorsese is rumored to be heading to Cannes with his latest film Killers Of The Flower Moon and Goodfellas will be out in full force with a hefty slate at the market and surely a large presence in the soon-to-be-announced festival line-up.
