The Lebanese author is best known for writing The Prophet and lived in the early 20th century in Lebanon, Boston, Paris and New York.
The producers signed the deal with the Gibran National Committee Of Lebanon, which will remain closely involved on the project.
Lebanese-American screenwriters Grace Shalhoub Yazbek and Rob Shalhoub are on board to write the screenplay, which will chronicle Gibran’s early life in Becharreh and follow his family’s departure to America, his middle years in Boston, Lebanon and Paris, where he was a protégé of Rodin, his adult years in New York City and his return to Lebanon and burial in his native country.
The author’s surviving widow Jean Gibran, who co-authored the biography Kahlil Gibran: His Life And World with her late husband, will serve as story consultant to the production
